I am sitting on the floor right now with my 3rd period class because we are in a lockdown situation, meaning there is an armed intruder in the area.

I wonder how typical it is in most junior high schools for students to hear an ambulance siren followed by a helicopter and immediately, and with a light mood, state, " Hey, I bet we're going to get locked down!" And I wonder how typical it is for teachers who get locked down to be more upset about losing prep time than about the possibility of getting shot. . . Just another day in the 'hood. :)
Very sad but true. Most of my emotional energy was spent in one of two ways: 1. Thanking God that I wasn't stuck with 8th period again and 2. Cursing myself for not going to the bathroom sooner. I was getting desperate!!
